MEDIA RELEASE

On December 22, 2001, at approximately 10:45 a.m., South Hilo Patrol units responded to a report of a robbery of a 77-year-old female at the Waiakea Kai Plaza. The female had been pushed to the ground by her assailant and her purse was taken. The female had sustained injuries as a result of the attack.

Through information developed by South Hilo Patrol officers it was learned that an unknown male had used the victim’s credit card to purchase gas from a downtown service station. Subsequently, Clinton C. Saragosa Sr. was arrested for robbery, fraud use credit card, assault, and two counts of theft on December 24, 2001.

On December 24, 2001, at 11:45 a.m., Saragosa was charged for all of the above mentioned crimes. Bail has been set at $11,500.
