A 60 year old Hilo man reported that he was robbed of his wallet in downtown Hilo on Christmas morning at 11:15 a.m.

The victim reported that he was walking on the public sidewalk on Kamehameha Avenue when an unknown male struck him on the head causing the victim to fall to the ground The assailant removed the victim’s wallet from his pants pocket, then fled on foot towards Mamo Street.

The victim complained of pain to his face and hips. However, declined medical attention.

The suspect is described as a young male, possibly late teens. Described as 6′, 160 lbs., wearing a blue shirt, red shorts, and shoes.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Hilo Police at 961-2311 or the non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment, or the recovery of property.
