MEDIA RELEASE

The Juvenile Justice Comprehensive Strategy Planning Group of Hawaii County is sponsoring a contest for Big Island students.

Because the name is so long, the contest is encouraging students to offer a name and logo for the community group, which is comprised of several agencies who have joined forces to help young people on the Big Island.

Mid Pacific Wheels, Prince Kuhio Plaza merchants and Prince Kuhio Stadium Cinemas will donate prizes for winners in each age group. The groups are divided into three divisions, according to school grade — K-3, 4-6 and 7-12.

Official entry blanks are available from Hawaii County Police Department D.A.R.E. officers, and may be picked up at any police station on the island. They are also available at Mid Pacific Wheels, Fernandez Fun Factory in Hilo and Kona and Tilt and Customer Service Center, both located at the Prince Kuhio Plaza.

The deadline to enter the contest is Monday, December 10, 2001. The complete contest rules are listed on the official entry blank.
