MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Kahaluu area residents early Tuesday (May 4, 1999) apprehended a suspect wanted by Kona police for assault in an attack last month on two women.

Police arrested Michael Moore, 48, of Kona, who was being sought for an attack April 28, 1999, that injured two women in the Kahaluu housing complex.

Police said residents of the area recognized Moore, who was wanted by police, and detained him. They then called police and turned him over to the responding officers.

The two injured women, one 23 and the other 20, had been struck with a hammer while in their apartment.

Kona Criminal Investigation Section detectives are continuing the investigation.
