Media Release

The Hawai’i Police Department is investigating a reported burglary in the Kona Palisades subdivision in Kailua-Kona.

In May, a washer and dryer were removed from a vacant house. Neighbors reported seeing three men doing what appeared to be repair work on the roof. A white pickup truck was seen in the driveway with the washer and dryer in the truck’s bed.

The owner of the house told police he did not hire anyone to repair the roof.

Investigators from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section are asking for the public’s help in identifying the responsible persons. They ask that anyone with any information about the case call Lieutenant Darren Horio at 326-4646, extension 266, or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.

Police advise the public to be on the alert and to report any suspicious activities.
