MEDIA RELEASE

On Thursday, February 2, 2006 at about 1400 hours, Fire/Rescue Personnel located the body of Jan C. Callahan, 29, of a Hilo address in the area of Boiling Pots. This was following a four(4) day ground and aerial search of Wailuku River.

Callahan was reported missing on Sunday, January 29, 2006, after Callahan was last seen being swept away in a river current in the Wailuku River, near Peepee Falls, in the upper Kaumana area of Hilo.

Positive identification of Callahan was made following the recovery and a Coroner’s Inquest and autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
