MEDIA RELEASE (UPDATE)

A 28-year-old Kailua-Kona man who died Thursday (May 10) from a motorcycle crash has been identified as Kenneth A. Hayes.

Responding to a 3:35 a.m. call Thursday, Kona patrol officers determined that Hayes was operating a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle and traveling north on Kapuna Street when he hit a curb and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Hayes, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:05 a.m.

Police believe that speed, alcohol and drugs were factors in the crash.
