Police seek Kawaihae tool thieves 10-29-02

Police are looking for a thief or thieves who stole a number of power tools used in making canoes from the Kawaihae Canoe Club.

Police said that sometime between 5 p.m. on Thursday (October 24, 2002) and 8 a.m. on Friday, someone took the tools from a storage shed at the Kawaihae Small Boat Harbor. The tools have an estimated value of $10,000.

Anyone with information about the theft or the identities of the thieves is asked to call Community Policing Officer John Rodrigues of the South Kohala Patrol at 887-3080 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
