MEDIA RELEASE

Police are looking for two men who robbed a video store late Monday (June 6, 2005) in the Hilo Industrial area.

Responding to an 11:49 p.m. call, South Hilo patrol officers arrived at the After Dark Video on Kukila Street and determined that two males had entered the store carrying a duffel bag.

One of the suspects brandished two handguns, pointing one at the clerk and holding the other against his chest, and demanded money.

The two then escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

It is believed the suspects fled east on Kukila Street towards Railroad Avenue in an older dark-colored Nissan pickup truck.

The suspects were described as being local males in their 20s, being about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8 in height with heavy builds and weighing 250 to 300 pounds. One suspect, who wore a bandanna, had short brown hair. The second suspect wore a knit cap with a T-shirt over his face, exposing only his eyes.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspects is asked to call the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
