Media Release

A Kona man has been charged with nine offenses stemming from his arrest for a burglary Wednesday (February 10) in Kailua-Kona.

Sometime between 5:45 a.m. and 7:33 a.m. Wednesday, a laptop and checkbook were removed from a home on the 77-6400 Block of Princess Keʻelikolani Drive.

A neighbor later found the checkbook and returned it to the victim.

Police investigation led to the identity of a suspect, 25-year-old Alan C. Minamishin of Kailua-Kona. Minimashin was arrested several hours later with the laptop in his possession. He was taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.

Their investigation revealed that Minamishin was also responsible for using stolen credit cards from a wallet that had been removed from a bathroom at a church on Aliʻi Drive on February 1. That wallet was later recovered without the credit cards.

On Thursday (February 11), detectives charged Minamishin with first-degree burglary, second-degree theft, fourth-degree theft, theft/forgery of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card, third-degree identity theft, two counts of unauthorized possession of personal confidential information, and violating terms of supervised release. His bail was set at $82,000.

He remained at the cellblock pending his initial court appearance Friday morning (February 12).
