MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii Island police on Wednesday (February 28) arrested a Kauai fugitive who is wanted by Kauai police for attempted murder.

Matthew Davidson, 33, is being held at the Hilo police cellblock pending extradition to Kauai.

On February 22, the Hawaii Police Department received information from the Kauai Police Department that Davidson was on the Big Island with a woman and that the two were frequenting Hookena, Hilo and Puna.

Acting on leads, police tracked Davidson to a business on Apapane Street in Hilo. When Davidson saw police at the scene Wednesday morning, he tried to flee on foot but was immediately apprehended without incident. He was taken into custody at 8:30 a.m.

Davidson is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail while awaiting extradition.
