Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating an apparent “drive-by” shooting in the Leilani Estates subdivision in Puna late Monday (May 4).
In response to a 10:48 p.m. call Monday, police learned that a 47-year-old woman heard gunshots from the road on the 13-1200 block of Leilani Boulevard followed by the sound of a vehicle driving away in the makai direction. She then discovered a bullet hole in her house, which was occupied by five persons.
Detectives recovered a bullet from inside the home.
The case is being investigated as five counts of first-degree reckless endangering.
