CHARGED IN IDENTITY THEFT – Isaac Gaub and June Isaacson have been arrested and charged in a burlary in which a credit card was stolen and used in a buying spree.

Big Island police have arrested and charged a Hilo man and woman with various offenses for allegedly burglarizing a home and stealing household items, then going on a spending spree using a stolen credit card.

The suspects, identified as Isaac Gaub, 26, and June Isaacson, 40, were arrested and charged on Friday (August 20, 2004).

Gaub allegedly burglarized a Hilo home and stole a computer, jewelry and an inactive charge card. During the next few hours, he and Isaacson activated the charge card and went on a buying spree at various stores throughout Hilo.

During an investigation, police identified the couple as posing as the credit card holder and co-holder and making purchases with the stolen credit card.

Several East Hawaii Criminal Investigation Section detectives and South Hilo Patrol officers served three search warrants at various locations, where they recovered both the items stolen in the burglary and items purchased on the stolen credit card.

Gaub was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, two counts of forgery, two counts of second-degree theft, one count of theft of a credit card, one count of burglary, four counts of attempted theft and one count of identification theft. He is being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $13,300 bail.

Isaacson was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, two counts of forgery, five counts of identification theft, two counts of second-degree theft and three counts of attempted theft. She is being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $17,200 bail.
