The Ka’u police are investigating a Criminal Property Damage incident that happened on Maia Road which is located above the town of Pahala. A Caterpillar, Grade All was intentionally set fire and burnt to the ground. The incident happened between March 16, 2008, 5 p.m. and March 17, 2008, 8 a.m.

The value for the piece of equipment is estimated at $50,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Clayton Tayamen at the 939-2520. Persons wishing to remain anonymous are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers calls are confidential.
