MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Police have identified the body of a person whose skeletal remains were found Saturday evening (July 24, 2004) in the Fern Acres subdivision of Puna.

He was identified as Carl E. New, 44, of a Fern Acres address. New was identified Wednesday (July 28, 2004) through dental records.

Puna patrol officers had responded to a 6:40 p.m. call on Saturday reporting the discovery of skeletal remains near a residence on Pikake Street.

New, of a Pikake Street address, had been reported missing in June. New was last seen on June 13, 2004, in the general area of where the body was discovered.
