A Puna woman has been charged with burglary and theft in connection with a burglary last month in Hilo.

On December 26, a 76-year-old Hilo woman reported that someone had broken into her home on Ululani Street and removed jewelry. The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Helena Mae Lynne Pang of Pahoa.

On Saturday (January 9), police arrested Pang on two bench warrants and charged her with two counts of contempt of court. She was found to be in possession of several items that had been removed during the burglary.

She was taken to the Hilo police cellblock while police continued the investigation. During the investigation, police recovered additional items belonging to the victim.

At 5 p.m. Sunday (January 10), Pang was charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree theft. Her bail was set at $35,000.
