Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested and charged a man in connection with a car stolen in September.

On September 20, it was reported that a car had been stolen from the Ainaloa subdivision sometime between September 15 and September 20.

Police investigation led to the identity of a suspect and the recovery of the car on November 30th.

On Monday (February 9), the suspect, 33-year-old Blaine L. K. Faris III of Honomū, was arrested in Hilo. He was taken to the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.

At 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, detectives charged him with second-degree theft. His bail was set at $2,000. He remains at the cellblock pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Thursday (February 12).
