02-13-20 Ocean View pair charged with drug and firearms offenses

On Wednesday (February 12), Area II Vice officers executed search warrants at a property off of Coconut Drive in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates.  

Officers recovered a total of 11.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 176.9 grams of dried marijuana, 56 marijuana plants, a .30-06 rifle, a .22 caliber rifle, a .357 caliber revolver, and 19 rounds of ammunition. 

Officers arrested 64-year-old Edward Asuncion for promotion of a dangerous drug in the 1st degree and promotion of a dangerous drug in the 2nd degree.  Officers also arrested 72-year-old Cecelio Asuncion for commercial promotion of marijuana in the 1st degree, commercial promotion of marijuana in the 2nd degree, promotion of a detrimental drug in the 3rd degree, six (6) counts of firearm ownership/possession prohibited and possession of a firearm with intent to facilitate the commission of a felony.

After conferring with prosecutors, both parties were charged for the offenses they were arrested for.  Bail was set at $15,000 for Edward Asuncion and $55,250 for Cecilio Asuncion.  Both parties did not post bail and were released at the Kona District Court on Thursday (February 13) for their initial court appearance.
