04-10-20 Man arrested for multiple offenses including violation of the Governor’s Emergency Proclamation

Media Release

Hawaiʻi Island Police report that on (April 8) 47-year-old Ivan Cherepanov of Pāhoa was arrested and charged for Terroristic Threatening and Disorderly Conduct after he went to a stranger’s residence in Pāhoa and verbally threatened a woman.

Due to the stay at home Emergency Proclamation and the fact that he was not conducting essential business or activities, he was also charged for the offense of Prohibited Acts-Emergency Management under section 127A-0029, HRS.

Any person convicted of violating the Emergency Proclamation can be fined up to $5,000 or imprisoned up to one year, or both.
