A 33-year-old man was arrested after residents thwarted his efforts to force his way into a house on Ohai Street in Hilo around 4:30 a.m. Saturday (April 9).

Kawehi Linkee of Pāhoa was arrested and taken to the Hilo police station. After conferring with prosecutors, police charged him with attempted unauthorized entry of a dwelling.

He was also charged with attempted unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle for an incident in Wainaku in September 2015. In that incident, a stranger was riding a forklift on a farmer’s land but fled the area when the farmer arrived at the property.

Linkee’s bail was set at $20,000. He made his initial court appearance on Monday (April 11).
