Media Release

Three people were arrested early Saturday morning (July 25) in connection with a large affray in Kailua-Kona.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a fight involving about 30-50 men and women at the Coconut Grove parking lot. When officers arrived, they observed a large, boisterous crowd. Many appeared to be intoxicated and disregarded police requests to disperse. Some of the men became confrontational and began to challenge officers. Police used pepper spray to assist in controlling the situation.

Jimmy Rivera, 32, of Kailua-Kona continued to fight and was eventually arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after police used a conducted electrical weapon—commonly referred to as a “Taser”—to stop his combative behavior.

A man and a woman, 23-year-old Dwayson K. Ambrosio of Kamuela and 33-year-old Napualani S. Kamoku of Kailua-Kona, were arrested and charged with failure to disperse.

Rivera was released after posting $250 bail. Ambrosio was released after posting $500 bail. Kamoku was released on her own recognizance.
