An update is being provided on the cause of death of 63-year-old Jane Lawrence of Laupāhoehoe who was pronounced dead on August 1st following a single-vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 19 in the area of the 8 mile-marker in Pāpaʻikou.

The results of an autopsy determined that the victim died of natural causes that were unrelated to the injuries sustained in the traffic crash. As a result, this crash will not be counted as a traffic-related casualty.

The traffic fatality total for the calendar year 2020 remains at 12 compared to 13 at this time last year.
