A 62-year-old Naʻalehu man died following a single vehicle collision on Thursday (August 27) near the intersection of Aloha Boulevard and Highway 11 in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates. 

The 62-year-old male has been positively identified as Kevin Ceasar.

Responding to an 8:55 a.m. call, police determined that a Black 2000 Dodge Durango SUV heading west (Makai) had drove off of the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a rock embankment.  The 62-year-old male driver was transported to the Kona Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 2:34 p.m.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

The Area II Traffic Enforcement Unit has initiated a Coroner’s Inquest investigation and is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact Officer Jason Foxworthy at 326-4646, ext. 229 or email at jason.foxworthy@hawaiicounty.gov. This is the 13th traffic fatality this year compared to 13 at this time last year.
