Hawaiʻi Island police have identified a Washington State man who died Saturday (September 5) after being involved in a traffic collision on Route 137 (Kalapana-Kapoho Road) .1 mile south of the 17-mile marker.

He was identified as 62-year-old Richard Frank Rice of Mill Creek, Washington.

An autopsy was conducted Wednesday (September 9) but police are awaiting toxicology results before making a final determination.

Police ask any witnesses who may have seen the vehicle, a silver 2015 Hyundai Elantra four-door sedan, between 7:45 p.m. and 8:38 p.m. or anyone with any other information about this case to call Officer Clarence Acob at 961-2332.
