A Puna man has been arrested and charged with murder on the strength of a grand jury indictment.

Sean Alan Rutledge, who was in custody at Hawaiʻi Community Correctional Center on an unrelated matter, was arrested at 3:05 p.m. Friday (September 11) and charged with second-degree murder for the death of his mother, 63-year-old Nadean Rutledge of Pāhoa. Her body was discovered with suspicious injuries outside her Kapoho Kai Drive home on August 25.

Sean Rutledge remains at the jail without bail until his initial court appearance tentatively scheduled for Monday (September 14).
