The Hawaiʻi Police Department has identified the deceased man who was found in Pololū Valley on September 18, 2020.

On Friday, September 18, 2020, at about 9:53 a.m., officers responded to a report of a deceased male in Pololū Valley, about 100 yards from the bottom of the entrance trail.  With the assistance of the Hawaiʻi Fire Department, police located the body, but at the time were not able to identify him.

Although police have now positively identified him, his identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

Police are conducting a Coroner’s Inquest investigation to determine the cause and manner of death.  Foul play is not suspected.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department would like to thank the members of the public who called in tips and shared information.
