1-05-22 (Update) Police Identify Child Killed in Mauna Kea Collision; Investigation Continues

The Hawaii Police Department is continuing their investigation into the tragic traffic collision on Mauna Kea Access Road that took place on January 1, 2022, killing a nine-year-old girl and injuring seven people.

The girl has been identified as Kelsirose Adelka of Kailua-Kona. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

Traffic investigators are continuing the mechanical inspection of the truck in the incident.

The East Hawaii Traffic Enforcement Unit are continuing a negligent homicide investigation, which is pending. Police ask that anyone who witnessed the collision or who has information on the incident, to contact Officer Jared Cabatu at (808) 961-2339 or via email Jared.Cabatu@HawaiiCounty.gov.
