Hawai’i Island police have arrested and charged 60-year-old Troy Ashley Young, of Kea’au, with sexual assault following an incident that reportedly occurred in the late afternoon hours on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at a residence on 35th Avenue in Orchidland Estates.

On Friday evening, October 13, 2023, at 11:30 p.m., after conferring with Hawai’i County Prosecutors, Area I Juvenile Aid Section detectives charged Young with second-degree sexual assault.   Young’s bail was set at $10,000.00.

The charge against Young stems from allegations that he sexually assaulted an elderly 88-year-old female family member who is mentally incapacitated.

Young remains in custody and is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. in Hilo District Court.
