Hawai‘i Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 28-year-old Ainakailani Akui who escaped from the Hale Nani Correctional Facility on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at approximately 10:35 a.m.

Akui is described as local male, 5-feet-8 inches tall, 145 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, wearing gray sweatpants and sweatshirt.

Akui was currently in-custody for a burglary offense and unlawful possession of confidential information.

If anyone sees Akui or has information on his whereabouts, do not approach him, contact 911 or police dispatch at 808-935-3311.
