11-19-21 Keauhou Man Charged With Numerous Offenses

Police have charged a Keauhou man with numerous offenses stemming from a check on the welfare investigation that occurred in Kailua-Kona.

On November 18, 2021 at approximately 12:40 p.m., Kona Patrol Officers were dispatched to a business establishment located in the 75-0900 block of Henry Street, Kailua-Kona, to check on the welfare of a male party passed out in his vehicle. Officers made contact with a male party identified as, Keoni Cassidy, M-28, of Keauhou who was asleep in his vehicle. Officers observed a methamphetamine smoking pipe on Cassidy’s lap and he was subsequently arrested and transported to the Kealakehe Police Station pending investigation.  

The Area II Vice Section continued the investigation and conducted a search of Cassidy’s vehicle. During the search, police recovered 112.8 grams (3.97 ounces) of heroin, 59.9 grams (2.11 ounces) of methamphetamine, 12.5 fentanyl pills, 1.1 grams of marijuana, 0.5 grams of cocaine, 37 Suboxone pills, 30 Oxymetholone pills (Anabaloc steroid), 3 vials of testosterone (Steroid) , a firearm, ammunition, and various drug paraphernalia.

After conferring with Prosecutors, Detectives charged Keoni Patrick Keliima Cassidy, on Thursday (November 18) for four counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug First Degree, three counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug Third Degree, two counts of Promoting a Harmful Drug Third Degree, one count of Promoting a Detrimental Drug Third Degree, one count of Place to Keep Unloaded Firearm, one count of Place to Keep Ammunition, one count of Possession of Firearm in Commission of Felony Drug Offense, one count of Permit to Acquire, one count of Mandatory Registration of Firearm, and one count of Ownership or Possession of Firearm Prohibited. Total bail set was at $322,550. He was being held at the Kealakehe Police Station pending his initial court appearance on Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Kona District Court.
