12 Arrested in Sweep for Liquor Violators 04/28/00

MEDIA RELEASE

Twelve persons, five of them juveniles, were arrested for liquor violations in parks and other public areas in Hilo over the Easter holiday.

The seven adults were arrested for 11 liquor law violations; the five juveniles, for 10 liquor law violations.

A Crime Reduction Unit comprised of Community Policing and Juvenile Aid Section officers conducted the sweep during the evening hours of Thursday, April 20, 2000, through the following Saturday.

Among the areas checked were the Wailoa Boat Harbor, Wailoa State Park, Leleiwi Beach Park, Honolii, Bay Front, Reeds Bay, Banyan Drive area, Ainaola Park, “Blue Lights” and Puhi Bay.

The sweep was part of an ongoing operation conducted to keep public places safe for the public to enjoy.

Community Policing and Juvenile Aid Section officers are reminding residents that consuming alcoholic beverages in public areas is in violation of the law.
