Media Release

Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 72-year-old Linda M. Barat who was reported missing. She was last seen around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the Puainako Street / Railroad Avenue intersection in Hilo wearing a pink and white colored shirt, pink-colored leggings with the name “bebe” on the side, and light gray colored shoes. She may be in possession of a shopping cart and/or a blue-colored bag.

Barat is described as Caucasian, 5 feet 3 inches, 95-100 pounds, with light-brown/gray shoulder-length hair and blue eyes.  She has a pre-existing injury to her left palm and her right knee.


Police ask anyone who may have information on Barat’s whereabouts to contact the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311.
