On Tuesday April 20, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., members of the Area II Special Enforcement Unit located Girangaya at a residence on Plumeria Road in the Kailua-Kona area. Girangaya was arrested for her outstanding warrants at the Kealakehe Police Station as detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigation Section continued pursuing several ongoing investigations in which Girangaya was a suspect.

On Wednesday April 21, 2021 at 7:30 a.m. after conferring with prosecutors, Girangaya was charged with two counts of criminal contempt of court. She was also charged with a single count of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle stemming from the removal of a sport utility vehicle from South Point on April 1, 2021.
