6-19-22 Police Ask for Public’s Assistance Identifying Suspects in Two Hilo Theft Investigations

Hawai‘i Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying suspects of two robberies that occurred around the same time on Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2022, at two different retail clothing stores in the 100 block of Puainako Street in Hilo. It is unknown at this time if the incidents are related.

In one robbery (report #22-052995), which occurred about 2:20 p.m., three suspects entered a retail clothing store and removed an undisclosed amount of clothing totaling more than $500. One of the suspects injured a store employee during the theft and the three suspects fled the store.

One of the suspects (suspect photo #1) appears to be Caucasian with a skinny build and light, freckled complexion, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and reddish hair.

A second suspect (three photos of suspect #2) appears to be local with a thin build and tan complexion, 5 feet 11 inches tall, and brown hair. He is shown carrying an Adidas brand gym/duffel bag on his right side and wearing a pair of red and black slippers.

The third suspect (suspect #3) appears to be local with a thin build and dark complexion, 5 feet 11 inches tall, and dark hair. He is shown with a hoop earring on his left ear, wearing sunglasses and a gold-colored wristwatch on his left wrist.

In the second incident, (report #22-052990), which occurred at roughly the same time, two suspects entered a retail clothing store and removed an undisclosed amount of clothing totaling more than $90. 

One of the suspects assaulted a store employee after the theft and both suspects fled the store in a silver-colored hatchback sedan, heading west on Puainako Street.

Police ask anyone with information relative to these two investigations to please call the police department’s non-emergency number (808) 935-3311.
