7-08-21 Police Ask Public’s Assistance in Locating Missing Ka‘u Man Travis Aukai

Hawaiʻi Island police are searching for 40-year-old Travis “Pono” Aukai, of Ka‘u who was last seen leaving his residence in the Hawaii Ocean View Estates subdivision during the morning hours of Thursday, July 8, 2021 and has not been seen since. He is believed to be operating a gold 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck with the license plates of ZEU 288.

Aukai is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing approximately 145 pounds, having light skin complexion with black hair and brown eyes.

Police are asking that anyone with information on Aukai’s whereabouts to call the police department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311, or Detective Tyler Prokopec at (808) 326-4646 extension 224; or via email at tyler.prokopec@hawaiicounty.gov.
