Media Release

On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 10:59 a.m., North Kohala patrol officers responded to a report that a small Cessna airplane made an emergency hard landing in pasture land south of Upolu Airport in Hawi.

Arriving on scene, officers contacted the operator and sole occupant of the plane who stated that while operating the plane at around 300 feet he lost all power to the engine, which caused a hard landing.

The pilot was treated at the scene for a minor injury by Hawai‘i Fire Department personnel and released.
