Police department employees on and off duty and their families turned out Monday (July 26, 1999) to give blood for the Blood Bank of Hawaii’s Blood Drive.

The blood drive was held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the training room of the Hilo police station.

Darnella Villanueva, coordinator of the event, said department employees and their family members donated 75 pints of blood.

On Tuesday, the Blood Bank will kick off a three-day drive for county workers, their families and the public. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Seven Seas Luau House.

On Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Blood Bank will move its operations to the Hilo Medical Center, where it will be open to the public as well as hospital employees.
