MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Police have identified the skeletal remains of a man found Wednesday (July 23, 2003) in Hilo.

Through dental records, police identified the remains as those of Eric Pine, 32, of no permanent address.

An autopsy could not determine the cause of death, although there was no evidence of foul play in Pine’s death.

Police said there were also no past reports that Pine had been listed as missing.

Acting on a tip from an anonymous letter, police found the skeletal remains in a wooded area beside Wai’au Stream off Kaiulani Street. Officers also found some personal items near the remains, but no identification.
