MEDIA RELEASE

Big Island police have identified a woman whose body was found in the tidal pools at Kapoho Vacationland earlier this week as Shaula Groulx, 40, of Portland Oregon. She was found floating face down at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday (November 7, 2006).

Earlier that day, Groulx had been snorkeling in the tidal pools with friends.

Fire rescue personnel took her to Hilo Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 2:04 p.m.

Police have classified the case as a coroner’s inquest and have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
