MEDIA RELEASE

Researchers from the University of Hawaii at Manoa will be conducting the school’s annual seat belt use survey on the Big Island from January 25 through 28, 2001.

The study, sponsored by the State Transportation Department, is being conducted by the university’s Department of Urban and Regional Planning.

The survey involves stationing observation team members to monitor the use of seat belts at various sites around the island.

In conjunction with the survey, police are reminding motorists to buckle up before driving.
