MEDIA RELEASE

Kona police Tuesday (September 3, 2002) found a badly decomposed body in a subdivision near the Kona International Airport.

Responding to a 12:23 p.m. call, Kona patrol officers found the body, apparently that of an adult male, in the bed of a small, late-model pickup truck described as light tan or bronze in color.

The truck was parked on Laui Street in the agriculture lots of the Kona Palisades subdivision in North Kona.

Police have classified the case as a coroner’s inquest and have ordered an autopsy, scheduled for Wednesday, to determine the exact cause of death.

Kona Criminal Investigation Section detectives are continuing the investigation.

No further details were immediately available.
