Hilo police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 16-year-old California girl who has been reported missing since Sunday (April 7, 2002).

The missing girl was identified as Lanette Leilani Monroe, of a Torrance, California, address.

She is described as being about 5-feet-6 in height, weighing about 120 pounds with a slim build and having brown eyes and light brown or blonde hair growing to the middle of her back.

Monroe was last seen by her parents on Saturday as she performed during the recent Merrie Monarch Festival. She reportedly left to attend a meeting with her dance troupe about 9 p.m. at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel and has not been seen since.

Telephone calls to her cell phone have not been answered.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call Officer Reed Mahuna of the South Hilo Patrol or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
