Fifty-nine youths from seven teams participated in the HI-PAL Click It or Ticket 12-and-Under Hoops Championships this past weekend, February 1-2, at Waiākea-Uka Gym.

Kiaʻi Apele poured in 20 points and Jerek Prudencio added eight as Hoop Dreams ran past Keaukaha 48-18 to claim the title.

Members of the championship team, along with Apele and Prudencio, are Umi Kealoha, Branden Pagala, Guyson Ogata, Shesley Martinez, Josiah Rodrigues, Keawe Silva and Kaupena Yasso.

The Saint Joseph Cardinals finished third. Also participating in the event were Hoop Dreams Black, Shut D I and II, and Waiākea Titans.

“The Hawaiʻi Police Department asks all youth and adults to please use your seat belts to protect you in the unlikely event of a traffic crash,” said School Resource Officer Nelson Acob, who presented awards at the event. “And we would like to thank all the players and parents participating who have pledged to use their seat belts.”
