Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying whoever stole a hydraulic hammer from a construction site in Waimea in March.

The hydraulic hammer was last seen on March 12 at a construction site near the 13-mile marker on Route 190. On that day, a black extra-cab pickup truck was observed near the piece of machinery. The hydraulic hammer, valued at $50,000, was gone the next day.

Police ask anyone with information about the case to call Officer Angitau Faanunu at 887-3080 or the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 936-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
