MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Police have identified the victim of a fatal traffic crash that occurred Wednesday (June 30, 2004) as Grant M. Headley, 41, of Hilo.

Headley was killed near the 10-mile marker on Saddle Road when he lost control of his vehicle, which ran off the left shoulder, overturned and came to rest more than 200 feet off the roadway.

Police used fingerprints to identify the victim and notified the family Thursday. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

Traffic Enforcement Unit officers are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Officer Reed Mahuna of the East Hawaii TEU at 961-2332.
