MEDIA RELEASE

A vacant two-story dwelling in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision in Ka’u was destroyed by fire early Thursday (June 15, 2000).

Responding to a 2:30 a.m. call, officers learned from nearby residents that there was a loud explosion at the Coral Avenue residence before it became engulfed in flames.

The total value of the house and its contents was not immediately determined.

A Fire Department investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.

The dwelling is owned by Ellen La Coste of Kailua-Kona.
