MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaii Island Police Activities League Program (HI-PAL) invites 6th, 7th and 8th graders  to participate in the HI-PAL Boys and Girls Intermediate School Basketball League, which runs from September through November.

HI-PAL staff will help interested students from intermediate and middle schools form teams to represent their schools. Each team will compete against teams from other schools.  Students from home schools — or from middle or intermediate schools without enough participants to form a complete team — will be combined into their own team.

Participants will compete in separate leagues representing East and West Hawaii. Players from each league will then compete in a championship tournament.

The HI-PAL program is also looking for responsible adults interested in coaching a team in the basketball league.  A coach’s meeting for this event will be announced later.

For more information, please call the HI-PAL offices at 961-2220 in Hilo or 326-4646, extension 258, in Kona.
