MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaii Isle Police Activities League is sponsoring its annual West Hawaii HI-PAL Boys and Girls Intermediate Basketball League.

League play will start on October 2 and run through November 20, 2004. With the help of the HI-PAL staff, teams are formed in public or private intermediate schools and play against other intermediate school teams.

All registered seventh and eighth grade players will form a team within their school. Home school students and students at schools that cannot form a team will be placed on teams that don’t have enough players.

The league will be limited to the first 10 teams for both the boys and girls divisions, and a mandatory coaches’ meeting will be announced at a later date.

HI-PAL is looking for responsible adults interested in coaching a team for the program. All interested adults must be present at the coaches’ meeting to confirm that they are willing to coach a team.

Anyone interested in participating for a team or school teams who wants to register or who wants more information should call the HI-PAL office at 961-2219 or 961-2220.
