Detectives assigned to the East Hawaii Criminal Investigation Division are investigating an assault that occurred on Wednesday, 12-12-01 at approximately 1:25 a.m. in the 400 block of Wainaku Avenue, Hilo, Hawaii.

Hilo patrol officers responded to a call of a female who was attacked in her residence. Upon arrival, officers learned that an unidentified male entered the adult female’s residence and struck her on the top of her head numerous times with an unknown instrument. The female was asleep at the time and was awaken by the intruder. The unidentified male fled the residence on foot in an unknown direction and has not been located at this time.

The only description was that the unidentified male intruder was wearing dark baggy pants and an unknown colored shirt with a hood and no sleeves.

The victim was transported to the Hilo Medical Center for treatment of her injuries and was listed in serious but stable condition.
