Hawaii County police are investigating a Hilo assault that led to the hospitalization of a 22-year-old woman.

South Hilo Patrol officers responded to a nightclub on Hualani Street shortly after midnight in response to reports of a female victim who was assaulted. Officers located the victim, who sustained lacerations to her face after reportedly being assaulted by an unknown female.

Officers were unable to locate the alleged suspect on the premises.

The victim was initially treated at Hilo Medical Center and was listed in stable condition. She was later transferred to the Queens Medical Center on Oahu due to her injuries, which do not appear to be life threatening.

Police are asking that any witnesses to the assault call the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 961-3311.
